In many ways, the coyote is to the Plains Indians what the raven is to the peoples of the Northwest—creator, instructor, and keeper of magic. Both are playful and fun-loving. Both are skillful, full of diverse talents, but often seek ways to do things without using their own skills. They frequently strive to find shortcuts. Everything encourages us not to become too serious and reminds us that anything is possible.
